Sample Telephone Call

Legislators can be contacted at their Washington, D.C. office or their local offices. Telephone calls can be more effective when the contact is made through the local office. Keep your conversation brief. Do not be confrontational.

  • Identify yourself, indicating that you are a constituent and a health care provider.
  • Express your concern about a specific issue or bill.
  • Answer any questions that may be posed and offer to find out if you don't know the answer.
  • Ask for a reply from the legislator about how they intend to vote. Provide your email address.
